Wigan Sports Group, a new trading name and brand behind the three Wigan sports entities – Wigan Athletic, Wigan Warriors, and the stadium company Wigan Sporting Events – is delighted to announce a major change to the matchday experience at the Brick Community Stadium, with the introduction of an in-house catering model.
This move marks an exciting step forward in delivering a wider and more diverse food and beverage offering to all supporters, ensuring an enhanced matchday experience for fans of both Wigan Athletic and Wigan Warriors.
By bringing catering operations in-house, Wigan Sports Group aspires to provide a more tailored approach to food and drink options that reflect the preferences and needs of all visitors to the stadium. The transition allows for greater flexibility, quality control, and responsiveness to fan feedback, ensuring an inclusive and high-quality offering on matchdays and beyond.
A Commitment to Quality and Variety
The new in-house catering model will allow our venue to:
- Offer a greater range of food and drink options, including local and seasonal products
- Enhance dietary inclusivity with expanded vegetarian, vegan, and allergen-friendly choices
- Improve service efficiency to reduce queue times and enhance the overall fan experience
- Provide competitive pricing and value-for-money options for supporters
Wigan Sporting Events Managing Director, Neil Russell, said:
“This move demonstrates our commitment to continually improving the matchday experience at the Brick Community Stadium and signifies a real step change as we start out on our journey to enhancing and developing our venue to all visitors. We look forward to introducing a more diverse and locally inspired catering offer that all fans can enjoy.”
Wigan Sporting Events, Non-Executive Director Lucas Danson added:
“We are excited to take this step towards a more personalised catering service that aligns with the values of our clubs and the expectations of our supporters. By managing catering internally, we can be more responsive to what our fans want and ensure a high standard of quality and service.”
The transition to the new catering model is now underway and we will shortly be contacting all season ticket holders for both Wigan Athletic and Wigan Warriors with a food and beverage survey, which we hope will help reshape our offerings to cater to all visitors. Further details on menu offerings and service improvements will be shared in due course.
We are committed to engaging with fans throughout this process and will provide opportunities for supporters to share their input on the food and beverage experience at the Brick Community Stadium.
All existing non-matchday events e.g conferencing, weddings, and general room bookings will be honoured moving forward.
